MODEified V

Welcome to the MODEified V information page.
This Project Completed in early 2000 and began around July of 1999.

The Story

After a little bit of a break from all the CD burning and hours sitting at my computer from M4 it was almost time to start production of the next edition of MODEified, the fifth! I had just moved from North Carolina to my current home of Chicago, IL for a job and had to take some time to settle in to my new place. I didn't know anyone in Chicago when I moved here, so starting up M5 became a way to pass my time alone. As you can see, I got a few friends after some time which explains the delay for a 6th edition!

MODEified 5 has, in my opinion, the best subtitle. Songs From the So-Called Space Age. I always loved that little statement in the Black Celebration CD sleeve and as soon as I saw it submitted for M5's subtitle I knew it would be one of the top choices. It certainly got my vote! The process started once again and we got lots of great digital submissions once again and BRAT helped out with the mastering while Rafi helped me get some of the many many orders burned. It got to a point that I just couldn't burn them fast enough. I remember us trying to meet up at the airport where he lives in Toronto(I think it was Toronto?!) to do a quick hand off of the box of ready to be mailed CDs. After all our planning, customs became an issue and we never did get to meet up and had to rely on the Postal Service. Would've been nice to meet in person though! That said, during the Singles Tour I did get to meet many Bongsters at the Washington DC show. It was nice to put some faces to names and it was funny how everyone knew my email address and said "Oh! You're NCRobino, the MODEified guy!?"

Well, M5 proved to be our best accomplishment yet in terms of sound quality. Everyone's equipment got better and better and so did the ability to produce some serious quality tunes! That doesn't stop us from still including the guy with the recorder and a guitar in his bathroom though! I hope you all enjoyed M5 as much as I enjoyed making it.

My Thanks And Comments from the liner notes..

It seems the more MODEified editions we do, the longer it takes.... but the better they get! This by far became the longest project undertaking with an impressive 14 months in production. Rafi was back for the copying and BRAT back for the mastering! Special thanks to them for taking some of the workload off me.

We continue to strive for and achieve that great feeling of joint effort and colaboration that the MODEified series has come to represent! Thanks to Francisco Jose Gamiz for the front cover art, Damon Moreno for the back cover and special art mention to henry Yung. Now! Go hop in your hammocks and enjoy another edition of MODEified....! Keep tuned to BONG for the latest on MODEified and the Official Webpages! Thanks everyone!

Take Care and Peace ....Rob Augino
