Welcome to the MODEified VI information page.
This Project Began January 2004!
After 4 years off, MODEified was back on track for the best edition yet produced!
I knew it was only a matter of time before the MODEified bug caught up with me again. This time it took Chris Baxter's email to me requesting to somehow get a hold of all the previous editions of MODEified. That put the fire under my butt and the enthusiasm back in my mind! I decided I would make CD editions of the M1-3 for him, something I'd been wanting to do for myself for a long time. I'd been so lazy that I just listened to my tapes or listed to the MP3's on my computer of the first editions and never made a CD to bring in the car or play on my stereo. Anyway, I finally got my wits about me and made his discs. I got so excited listening to the previous editions while making the discs for him, that I ended up asking BONG once again if they were ready for another edition! The response was overwhelming and the project began!
I then decided to write the NEW MODEified pages and started up this, the 6th, edition of MODEified!
Below you'll find everything regarding the M6 project. We got so many submissions this time that we had to create a 2nd disc, which we called the B Sides. This collection is excellent as well and has its own artwork to boot! Follow the progress of the project from beginning to end in the Updates section which are organized by date. These were the original postings to the Bong mailing list. Other things you can get information on are: Submitting, Tentative Song Lists, Requests Received, Requests Sent, Art Submissions and Subtitle entries!

MODEified welcomes Chicago based band Terminal Bliss! New
to MODEified, these guys play frequently around the Chicago land area and often
cover a song or two in their set lists! Check out their website for band
info, more pictures, and dates! See them live on April 27th at the Double
Door in Chicago! See their site for more info! Welcome the return of Unique to MODEified! Unique always finds ways to put new twists on DM songs. The German group from Hamburg first joined the MODEified project on M4 and has been a valued contributor since! Welcome back! There are very few things you can count on in the world of MODEified,
but love|less is definitely one of them!
From Sweden, love|less has been a continual source of
support for the MODEified projects since its' inception! That's right,
they appear on all 5 previous editions and are working on their latest creation
for M6. While we love new blood on the project, it's always
nice to see these guys each time! Check out their NEW single, "Something About
You". Color Theory is the musical alter ego of Huntington Beach singer-keyboardist-songwriter Brian Hazard. Hazard creates piano-driven electronic pop with a romantic soul, combining the emotional intensity of Tori Amos with a spacious backdrop of luscious synths and dance floor beats to create a distinctly modern brand of pop sophistication. In addition to his albums of original tunes, Brian has recently completed his own homage to DM and is submitting a few tracks of his own to join the MODEified project! Welcome to the project and be sure to check out his original work as well! Project.dx7 is a solo project started by Jerry Nordahl, a Swede who relocated to
the United States five years ago. The main purpose of the project is to act as a
personal outlet for creative energy. Musical influences include, but are not
limited to, Front 242, DM (of course), Northern Territories, Nitzer Ebb,
Kraftwerk and the Swedish band, Page.Among the more recent influences you can find acts like VNV Nation, Icon of Coil
and Diary of Dreams. Greetings from Mondo Drag! Mondo Drag is James Walker, a
one time Chicago music maker now makes all his latest beat driven tuneage in
Denver, CO! His influences include Junkie XL, Fat Boy Slim and many more!
Take a listen to his original tune
"No Sympathy - Sympathize"
mix! Synthetik FM is teaming up with electronic whiz Gary Flanagan on their submission for MODEified! The Synthetik FM formula is simple: 100% electronic instrumentation, catchy pop hooks, and strong lead vocals. No fancy stuff, no boring repetetive loops, nothing but pure 80's inspired electronic pop which is addicting enough that you will begin to hear it in your sleep. Meanwhile, the music of Gary Flanagan is a celebration of the warmer side of electronic music. It is catchy and positive, simple and direct. It is the attitude of 1981, an orchestration of 4/4 beats, night clubs, boys and girls and electronic sincerity. Mikropop, a Swedish project, stems from the M1 and M3 band Envoy. What used to be a heavily sequenced electronically-oriented band (Swedish "trångsyntband") has become a piano-based, low-key, vocal and melody oriented one-man project. Depeche Mode covers are great fun!, and it really kills the creative process of writing own songs because doing DM comes so naturally. When I really get myself together to write, my lyrics are the main focus. I write in my native tongue of Swedish, as it is impossible to be frank and ambiguous in other than your language. The submissions I'm doing this time are from a period of six years of working on DM songs! M6 welcomes Chicago's A New January! These guys are awesome! Not only are they a great band, but they graced the track listing of M3 back in 1997. Their version of "The Sun and The Rainfall" was one of M3's highlights! Check it out on the M3 page! These guys have come a long way since then too and continue to impress! Their new album gives us some hard edged music with an electronic foundation. Check out their site for their albums and dates around Chicago. I'll see you at their show! Originally from Augsburg, Germany, Roland now lives in Los Angeles since 2000. After giving up his recording equipment to move to the US, Y-my-R works from his laptop computer these days. Y-my-R is a one man project and the band name came up because most people don’t seem to know how to pronounce his last name, it’s Y-my-R. A long time DM fan, he strayed for a few years into the metal scene (I am sure many of us fell victim to metal too), but returned to the electronic scene when he felt his calling return. M6 marks his first venture with a DM tune! He's also done guest vocal work for Synthetik FM's recent release! Lakeside Church are three friends from Czech Republic. Janne (singer, songwriter), Max (keyboards, computers), Robbie (keyboards, percussions). They're an electronic synth pop band that formed in the early 90's. After recording three promo discs, they're now working on their first official album. If you'd like to listen something from their studio sessions, check out their website! dMentia is Syncrus Magnificus and Marcos Penalosa and was born as an acoustic cover band, but using electronic music as their main source material. They keep their sense of humor and try to turn covered tracks upside down and add a twist!. dMentia will soon appear with other bands in a live Depeche Mode tribute in Seville (May 21st), and will probably play Pipeline (an M6 submission) among other DM classics (up to 4). MODEified fans may recognize dMentia from M5, where their Spanish guitar version of AQOL was a great departure from the electronic scene! Expect more of the same great acoustic tunes for their M6 entries! Ecnelis, from Poland, has his own album of DM remixes available from his website! Check out his site for more music and information!

M6 - Promotional
Media Coverage and Articles:
Belgium based Side-Line Magazine's website featured M6 on March 25th!
The article included info and opinion about previous editions of MODEified as well as the upcoming 6th edition. Also mentioned were some of the bands and contributors to
the latest edition! Check out Side-Line.com frequently for the latest in music news! Great Mag,
Great Site. (Side-Line.com requires registering to view content on the site, it takes about 3 seconds... and is spam free!)

The MODEified series was to be featured in the June issue of X-Ray magazine! X-Ray was the magazine produced by London's newest radio station XFM. The magazine featured many great established and
new to the scene bands from the UK and abroad! The fans ability to produce the MODEified projects for the simple enjoyment and not commercial reasons is
something they truly admire and had decided to honor in the June 2004 issue! Unfortunately, after sending copies of all the previous editions and talking to
the article writer via email about the projects.... the magazine was SHUT DOWN. Yes, you heard it right. They still planned to do the article if/when the
magazine starts up production again. XFM/X-Ray Magazine Site
