Welcome to the MODEified VII production information page.
This project began in late 2007 and was completed in late 2008
The Story
2007-2008How can someone top what was M6? I mean, a four year gap between 5 and 6 had bands and artists clamoring for an opportunity to get another project going and M6 turned out to be the best yet! I guess we all learned quickly that it wasn't that hard after all!
M7 began in 2007 to quite a bit of buzz. Tons of artists began to flood to the project (without me tracking them down first!) expressing interest. Best of all, MODEified entered the MySpace realm. With 500 friends and counting, mostly bands and artists too, there was a great pool of talent from a wide range of styles and experience that were all invited to join in the project.
Production moved along as usual, some sending in songs right away, many at the last minute and some having to bow out for M8. Needless to say, the songs arrived and a great 2 disc set with some extras was molded.
Artwork (brilliantly done by Glezpik!) was sent off to print and after some gliches getting that done, it was finally time to ship the finished product to those who requested hard copies and post the files for the rest of the world!
As you can see, this edition boasts a track listing beyond worthy of the MODEified projects. Please enjoy and post your comments in the Forum that is coming soon. Without the interest and participation of the DM community, NONE of these projects would be possible. Until next time.....
The Liner Notes
M7 Credits & Thanks
I always thought the word "modified" lacked a letter. It was quite exciting back in 1995 when us DM fans came together and created a new and improved word to describe our modified DM tunes.... they were MODEified. MODEifying tunes from our favorite artist on that original compilation was truly exciting, but I never would have dreamed that 13 years later we'd be 7 projects in and counting!! This fact alone truly speaks volumes of the devotion and community of Depeche Mode fans!
The start of 2007, only months after releasing M6, I began to stew on the idea of branching the new Official MODEified Website that Rafi helped me create into the growing community of MySpace. Until now, the BONG Mailing List was what breathed life into the projects, but MySpace has officially changed all of that! MySpace opened up the projects to a new group of DM fans and artists and M7 reflects this latest leap in MODEified's evolution.
New fans and artists from around the globe began to learn of the MODEified projects and the interest in this edition has exceeded all previous ones! During post production on M6 we created the B-Sides disc so that we could include all of the music. This time, we announced from the start that this would be a 2 disc collection.... and we even have extras available for download on the website that aren't on either disc! The original "master" is back, Micah Stupak is again lending his printing help for the inserts and Glezpik's winning design graces the collection. Glezpik was the first to win and design every aspect of the CD inserts! As you can see, his creativity visually sets this project apart from previous ones too!
So how's the music? Just take a listen! These artists are the heart and soul of the project! As always, the project was done for the music and is non commercial in nature, but I would venture to call this one of the best collections of Depeche Mode interpretations out there. Everyone who had a hand creating and supporting these projects should feel a great amount of pride in the final collection, MODEified by 7 & MODEified by 7 Again. Now, pour yourself a bourbon and warm up with these kick ass new tunes.
Take care and Peace

A New January has been making noise since 1993.

Blind Before Dawn
Formed in 1998. BBD has continued to produce one minor cult hit after another over the past decade despite remaining unsigned.
Their name has been on many lips, generating a growing following from UK to Eastern Europe and USA. Quasi gloomy electronic influenced by the great
bands of the 80s .A band who remembers the subliminal melodies of 80s bands yet remaining somewhat fresh and contemporary at the same time.

Christian Dannie Storgaard
This cover of "A Question of Time" is from Danish electronic musician Christian Dannie's first album "abphrne", produced under the alias "slow pace adjustMENT". Though he no longer uses this name, he still produces music, currently using the aliases of "untied" - for a dark industrial/coldwave concept "soloband", and "tether" - for a more lighthearted project where the focus is on a more dancefloor friendly industrial sound. While "untied" is currently the only active project with an available demo, both projects have their respective albums nearing completion.

Cliché
Cliché is a Spanish pop project with Spanish sung lyrics, being this version the only notable exception. Syncro had a translation he made long ago which seems to be lost, but he fortunately remembered the chorus (it is a straight translation), so he used it. Cliché used to be just Syncro when it started, then Marcos (the other half of dMentia) for a while, and now it's Esther & Syncro - a forced move since he moved from Seville to Madrid a few years ago. Some kind of web page should be coming soon. As some additional trivia, this is the very first track fully programmed by Esther.

Color Theory
Color Theory is the musical alter ego of Huntington Beach singer-keyboardist-songwriter Brian Hazard. Color Theory’s latest release is Color Theory presents Depeche Mode, a one-man tribute to Depeche Mode, complete with two new instrumental interludes. The album reinvents eleven of their most underappreciated songs, and also includes the track "Ponytail Girl", the Color Theory original that was mistakenly credited as a Depeche Mode track from their Exciter album. To this day, several European web sites sell alternate versions of Exciter with “Ponytail Girl” included as a so-called “bonus track”.

Dossiers Secrets
Originally from Argentina, Dossiers Secrets was formed in 2004 by Hernán Casella (Automne) and Javier Richarte (from Side Effects). They started writing music and a few months later Pablo Almejún (from the act Melmoth) joined the band.
The style is mainly eletro/synthpop. The influences are from different bands and styles: Iris, Seabound, Covenant, Melotron, Assemblage23, Diary of Dreams, Diorama, Clan of Xymox.
Encomium Effect
Encomium: a formal expression of praise. Kim Johnsson and Jason Bromberg.

Endless Comes Later
Endless Comes Later are Danielle Masek & Kim Johnsson. Danielle's been into DM since 10th grade, and she would love to work in video games as a 3-D artist, but would love to work as a singer even more. Kim's been into Danielle since last MODEified, and would love to work as her band even more often.

envythemachine
envythemachine are London based Tony Court and Phil Eaton, creating electronic music from the darker side of life. Musical influences touching every genre imaginable but focussing around the ebm / darkwave scene ensure the beats are big and the synths soar. In addition to working on their own stuff, Tony has also submitted a solo track for M7 and Phil plays keyboards for up and coming UK band Revolution By Night.
Returning for their 2nd Modeified outing is a real pleasure and gives envythemachine another chance to pay homage to the great DM!’

Fuckware
Fuckware is Syncro's alternative harsh industrial project as opposed to my main project (Syncro), being me (as Syncro) the only member, though you may notice there are guest female vocals (by Esther) in this one, as Fuckware should stay in that format (solitary project with occasional collaborations).

Fuzzy Monsters
In these times of fabricated-stardom, the quest to find true and enduring legends is often obscured by the smoke and mirrors of media created talent. So, before Punk went Pop and the Revolution was Reality TV ... there was The Fuzzy Monsters.

Interferencia
After an ad was placed on a DM forum, Interferencia was initially formed by Dexter and AaronHF74 as a DM tribute band. After a year of studio work, Glezpik integrated as singer, as well as visual manager.
In 2006 Interferencia composed the track El Oeste Solitario for the mexican version of the theatrical production of Martin McDonagh's The lonesome west, directed also by AaronHF74
They have become one of the most recognized tribute bands among mexican DM fans and are currently working on studio to release an EP with original songs (also inspired by DM, Recoil and other synth pop classic influential bands).

James D Stark
James D. Stark is a Dark Romantic Solo Artist based in the Rose City of Portland, Oregon. All writing, production, and musical performance is carried out solely by Stark. Adding a tranquil and soothing touch to the sounds of Gothic and Darkwave, Stark has created his own niche with his vibrant and emotional style dubbed "Romantic Synthpop". His sound is reminiscent of European Electro and Synthpop artists such as Depeche Mode and De/Vision, but holds a distinct and genuine quality of it's own.
Stark's latest album entitled "Music of the Night", delves deeper into his trademark dark-romantic style. The opening track, "Ready", is passionate and erotic, while the lyrics of "Savior" tell a story of pure devotion against a captivating and dreamlike setting. With powerful vocals full of depth and clarity, the album takes the listener through a heartfelt and mesmerizing journey, delivering a seductive message of raw adoration.

Jason Coy is based out of the historical river city of Vicksburg, Mississippi, USA. When not fronting a classic/modern rock band, Jason enjoys writing music for plays or the occasional imaginary film. His long-suffering wife is one of the most patient creatures on the planet.

Working in a rogue secret laboratory, Kilna toils away toward the goal of exploring parallel universes. From each world he has brought back unique sounds and synthesized them into new musical creations with the help of his trusty mainframe.

Lakeside X
Surprisingly sardonic, filled up with energy of last hope for salvation from self-destruction. Sexually defiant, open and intensive. Their music tells stories of mental collapse and desperation (Spiral), obsessive memories of a nailed wooden figure of Jesus in Mary’s arms watching your every step (Anywhere), emotional loser destroyed by own mistakes (Sway), manic-depressive psycho hurting his partner and begging for understanding (Tell Me You Understand Me) or a wretch, for whom his opposite “shines too bright” to be loved (Ultraviolet).
This, and many more is hidden beneath the electro-guitar sound of the
It’s been few years since Janne Marvannen (vocal), Robert Broj (keyboards), I.G. Dvorsky (drums) and Vito Hayek (guitar) kicked off with their well-appraised melancholy debut “

Louis Guidone is a photographer, remixer, and electronic musician living in New York. He has been listening to Depeche Mode for over 20 years. He has been a part of NYC's New Wave/Industrial/Gothic nightclub scene for half his life. Some of his songs can be heard on myspace.com/louisguidonemusic and his website www.louisguidone.com features his photography.
He has 2 albums available to date - "I Go On With My Life" which is entirely original songs (if you buy a CD-R through his website it comes with 3 bonus tracks) AND "Destruction Time Again", his own tribute to Depeche Mode and Recoil. love|less
love|less: Started in Karlstad, Sweden, 1994 by Micke Askernäs and Jan-Erik Saarinen. The band since then moved to Stockholm and grew with the addition of Fredrik Svensson and David J. Elfström. The band released their debut album in 2002 entitled "Hello World" and followed that up with a promo single of "Something About You" in 2004. The band has appeared on numerous compilations throughout the years, and had
the biggest highlight in 2004, when we opened for Camouflage in front of 1000 ecstatic Estonians in Tallinn. In fact, we did such a good job that the tabloids reviewed our concert and printed pictures of love|less with the caption "Camouflage" ... After a longer hiatus, in which love, life, work and real life got too much in the way, we
decided to disband love|less in 2007. David is busy with his new project, "Moist". Fredrik is currently busy with his new projects "Baby, don't hurt yourself" and "My Observer", and Micke is working with his new band "Blame it on the Midget" and is solo project, "osc1". links:

Myra Hope Graber
Myra Hope Graber is a Depeche Mode devotee (circa 1992). Her interests outside of work and family include musical theatre, poetry, modeling and cosmetics. She indulges in personal growth projects, spanning various media, which engage and enlighten. “Thank you for enjoying my noise”.

Northern Mars
Northern Mars is a electopop/house act from Miami formed in 2004. Northern Mars is Peter Lombardo and Hilary Chulock. Their track, "Commuter Highway" has been remixed by DJ Tracy Young and is currently being remixed by Brane, who produced Kim Leoni's international dance hit, "Again". Northern Mars works with producer Steve Cruz in a small studio in South Florida. Peter and Steve completed "Walking In My Shoes" during a break in recording."
Opium
Opium is a synthpop band consisting of members in Israel and Russia, with musical, lyrical, and production contributions from both countries. The band has been around since the early 90's, but has never released an album until this album in 2004. Opium finds their musical roots in the synthpop and new wave of the 80's, but builds onto that foundation with the production sounds of today. The polished vocals are built around strong melodies and sensual lyricism.

osc1
osc1 consists of Micke Askernäs and was started as a counterpoint to love|less. The idea was that while the love|less songs took often several weeks in production, all songs from osc1 should be finished from idea to product within one day. Focusing less on "pop production" and more on the songs, and adapting a more analog and electronic
sound, osc1 caters more for lovers of eletronica. There is a lot of love|less in osc1, as Micke has been doing all the production of love|less in the past. There is also a lot of osc1 in the love|less productions here and there. The first song by osc1, was "Dreaming", which Jan-Erik Saarinen (love|less) came in and wrote some great
lyrics. At the time, with nowhere to go on osc1, the decision was made to put it as a closing track on the loveless debut album, "Hello World", but it is, in effect, the very first consciously made osc1 track.

Polystar
Polystar is a Boston based band. They've just put out their second CD entitled "possession" featuring contributions from Roger O'Donnell (the Cure, Psyhadelic Furrs), Boz Boorer from Morrsiey's band, as well as contributions from fellow Bostonians Freezepop.

Rafi Kharman
Rafi has been a long time contributor and co-colaborator on the MODEified projects. Despite his increased role in the producing the MODEified projects, he continues to be a musical talent that is continually welcomed in the track listing of the projects!
Solar Plexus
Solar Plexus - the band with two faces. Sometimes even three. But there are no symptoms of schizophrenia, because it`s about freedom in selecting the way of manifest to the audience. Founded in 2000 by Sekta77 in Cracow, Poland. In the beginning, with a girl as a singer, they were very close to Sonic Youth, and very far from becoming a popular rock band. The Cracow crew is involved in other projects now, not necessarily in making music. Some of them succeed in computer animation, some are happy parents now... The most important thing is they`re still in touch, making cooperations, like videos for Solar Plexus... and they`re always ready for a feast of friends.
In late 2003 Sekta77 moved to Opole and begun another chapter of Solar Plexus existence. Sometimes it`s pure rock`n`roll (only when all musicians involved are ready to fly) - with no synths. Sometimes it`s only synths, sampling and turntablism. Sometimes it`s only acoustic guitar...
Today Solar Plexus puts Lilian in your hands - the combination of the old synthesizers and fascination of always young, psychedelic singer of The Doors, Mr. Mojo Risin.
So... there`s no way out: turn on, tune in and drop out... http://www.myspace.com/solarplexus77

Synthetik FM featuring Purveyor
Bobby Clark, the brains behind the Tennessee synthpop project Synthetik FM, makes a return to the MODEified series yet again. Be sure to check out the debut album e=mc², released digitally on Ninthwave Records, featuring collaborations with NukleoN, Ganymede, Empire State Human, and more!

The Echoing Green
The Echoing Green in studio is Joey & Chrissy.
The Echoing Green live (and sometimes in studio) is also Wil Foster, Jason Smith, Johnny B., and Dave Adams.

Tony Court
Tony has been writing, recording, and performing music, both solo and with various bands for almost 20 years now. He plays synth, guitar, bass guitar and drums, but the only instrument he has any qualifications in is the trombone! This is his first solo submission to the MODEified project, although he has submitted 2 others as one half of London based band, envythemachine. Musically he likes ‘anything with a strong melodic core, regardless of genre’, although his musical passion is for electronic music, particularly EBM/Trance/Industrial. If people like this submission then be prepared for more in the future… as well as plenty more from envythemachine of course!
